MWC (Mobile World Congress), held annually in the city of Barcelona, Spain, is the most important event in the mobile industry. Aside from an exhibition in which the companies active in this field introduce their latest achievements, the meetings held with the participation of managers and decision makers of this industry also seriously raise the importance of this event. Heres a look at some of the best products that were introduced at the 2018 MWC.
Galaxy S9/S9+
Samsung, one of the giants of the mobile industry, introduced the Galaxy S9/S9+ on the MWC this year. These smartphones, which now will be Samsung’s flagships, do not seem to differ significantly from their previous generation, but Samsung has tried to add new features to their list of specs.
These handsets use a completely different camera than the Galaxy S8/S8+, and the larger Galaxy S9+ now comes with a second camera. Also, the fingerprint scanner has been moved to a better location in the back of the phone. New handsets are equipped with stereo speakers and have a louder sound. Finally, as an important feature in the performance, the Galaxy S9/S9+ phones will use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Samsung Exynos 9810 (based on target market) platform, which will bring tangible improvement to them.
Sony Xperia XZ2
Sony has apparently decided to finally introduce a product that can compete with other flagship products. The Xperia XZ2 phone uses a relatively different design, with a wireless charging capability, a rear fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, and improved 4K HDR video recording capability. It uses the Snapdragon 845 platform and does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Nokia 8110 4G
HMD Global (that owns the Nokia brand) attracted much attention last year by reviving the Nokia 3110. Now the company comes with a premium model, the Nokia 8110, and with the introduction of a new model for less than $ 100, it provides you with a variety of features such as LTE support, Google Assistant and Google Maps along with the lovely Snake game. The battery is supposed to provide an expected 25-day standby time.
Nokia 8 Sirocco
Aside from reviving of old popular models, HMD Global is also active in the field of new handsets. The Nokia 8 Sirocco is a mid-range smartphone, with almost 95% of its body covered with glass that is curved on the edges of the phone and sunk into a metal frame. The phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 835 platform, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage space, a pOLED display, two 12 megapixel cameras and a wireless charging capability.
HUAWEI MATEBOOK X PRO
Huwaei didn’t display any new phones at MWC this year. In contrast, the new MATEBOOK X PRO laptop was fully acclaimed. This product is a 14-inch thin-edge laptop that, although similar to Apple’s designs, can still be appealing to its audience.
To reduce the margin of the display, Huawei has no choice but to move the webcam. In fact, now the webcam is moved to the keyboard and is hidden in the function keys row above the keyboard. By pressing the corresponding key, the camera pops out and places in a suitable position. This way you will not have to cover webcam when you’re not using it.
The laptop also has an acceptable status regarding hardware specifications. It’s equipped with an 8th generation Intel Core i7 8555U processor, a GeForce MX150 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD drive. Additionally, you will have a standard USB 3.0 port and two USB-C ports, one of which will support Thunderbolt 3.
ASUS ZenFone 5Z
Asus was one of the companies that launched iPhone X Copycat products this year. The ZenFone 5Z was introduced with a long list of interesting features that shows Asus is trying to make the product more attractive to its users. More precisely, the phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 845, a 6.2-inch display, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space. Of course, versions of the phone will also come with lower memory and storage space.
Energizer Power Max P16K Pro
Given that companies such as Razer and RED have launched smartphones, it’s not surprising that the well-known Energizer also comes in. The Power Max P16K Pro is a 6-inch device that uses the MediaTek MT6763T Helio 3 platform. This smartphone also comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. However, the distinction of the new Energizer device is something else: it has a massive battery with a capacity of 16000 mPh.
